All Artists, Dead or Alive!
The Pony Express
rides again and this year, the Morongo Basin Horsemen’s
Association is looking for talented artists to design
the 2009 Pony Express artwork.
The art contest is open to all artists.
There are two categories for the Pony Express Art Contest:
1. The Stick-on Postage Stamp, and 2. The U.S. Postal
Cancellation Rubberstamp. Art medium can be acrylics,
water color, ink, pencil, charcoal, digital, or photography.
All artwork must be without a mat, frame, or cover sheet.
Pencil and charcoal must be sprayed with fixative. All
submissions must have an
entry form.

All artwork must be the contestant's original
creation. The artwork must call attention to the Pony Express
rider, the desert environment, or Pioneertown.
Entries may be dropped at the Yucca Valley Chamber
of Commerce. Final entry date is March 16, 2009. Contest rules,
entry forms, and examples of previous year’s stamps will
be on the website at www.mbha.us.

Winners will receive recognition for their artwork
and the stamp collection pictorial will be submitted to Pony
Express and historical museums across the nation. The Pony Express
stamps are coveted by stamp collectors.
